The Debelius Seahorse Pendant is inspired by one of the world’s smallest and most extraordinary fishes. Created as the world’s first true-to-scale biologically inspired jewellery piece, it is the result of hundreds of hours of research, design, and craftsmanship. Using digital CT scans of the holotype specimen, I worked across multiple programs to produce the first anatomically accurate visual representation in precious metal. Each pendant can be crafted in 9ct or 18ct gold or fine silver and customised with the gemstone of your choice, allowing it to hold personal meaning, whether representing yourself or someone close to you. Pygmy seahorses are remarkable in the natural world, with the male carrying and birthing the young, one of nature’s rarest roles. This piece also honours the work of my husband, Dr Richard Smith, recognised as the world expert in pygmy seahorses and their conservation. A rare union of science, story, and craftsmanship, the Debelius Seahorse Pendant is a wearable celebration of life’s smallest wonders.
